the world needs this kind of person

I finally join a toefl course in Kaplan. I started my class last Tuesday. I thought it will be so boring and tiring since, for your information my schedule is :

EVERY TUESDAY & THURSDAY FROM 6-9 pm

can you imagine that? out from school at 5, makan di mobil, then 3 hours of english class, pffftttt

but! after my first class tomorrow, I change my mind. The class was..pretty awesome, I think. It's private class so there are only 4 student, me, 2 from Al Izhar, and 1 from Santa Lorensia or apapun it namanya I cant name it, hehe sowwie :D

but the coolest of all is, THE TEACHER

first impression : effin' awesome, a very very nice guy, kinda..good looking (but I dont emphasize the awesome on his look but in his personalities, k)

ah so much to tell, ga PeWe kalo pake bhs inggris, so indonesia aja oke!

pokoknya ni guru keren parah. I heart his personalities. kemarin tuh kita practice reading and the topic was about discovery of linguistic gitu, dan nyambung-nyambung ke sign language. about 8 o'clock gitu, cewe yang dari santa lorensia balik (I kinda dissapointed karna we waste 1 hour krna ga ada dia pdhal bisa listening practice *sigh). then he gave us homeworks.

I thought the next an hour nunggu kelas bubar tu will be so boring and garing, infaaaaact, effin' cool and fun fun fun. this mr. Douglas (oops, yea, his name is Douglas), ternyata bisa sign language. He learned it in university. He shared some stories about his experience with his sign language and how it could be very useful.

"you can be a knight and save a day by sign language" that's what he said.

his experiences prove it. one day he was in a bus, terus ada ibu and her daughter. anaknya itu deaf, tapi ibunya engga. Anaknya keliatan ga semangat, no smile gitu. Other people who sit there pasti mandang anak itu dengan aneh, while Mr. Douglas were moving and sat beside her. Then he started to talk with the girl in sign language. She was totally happy and told her mom (in sign language of course). what happen next, si ibunya bilang ke mr. Douglas kalo his daughter never speak that fast in sign language. She must be very excited.

He changed her gloomy to cheerfulness.

dia juga bilang, mungkin banyak orang mikir, buat apa kita susah- susah, ribet- ribet belajar sign language? toh kita normal, organ kita bekerja sempurna, temen dan sodara kita normal,

"we live among normal and healthy people."

but then he said,

"wouldnt it be nice if you pass or meet deaf peole and you can greet them."

Then he told us one of his experience pas dia masih di Bogor. He was going to spend his saturday at a mall but during on the way he has to pas sekumpulan deaf kids gitu. He said, everyone who passed the must be think "they are deaf, they're not normal"or maybe "I feel sorry and sad for them, but thank God they're not my son" or maybe even some people kinda feel disgust seeing people with physical problem. Infact, they're also human like we are, rite?

everything he said are all true. The way peole think towards those people, how people react, how people just pass them without even realize that they are exist.

So he continued walk and no, he didnt pass those kids. He stopped rite where the kids stood then he made conversation with them. The kids were surprised and happy. They're getting close. The kids were even willing to help him paint his house in Bogor and surprisingly it finished in one day. Mr. Douglas just needed to buy them food and drinks. They refused to get paid. They spent saturday together, sometimes they eat together at his house and had so much fun. They met though not often.

they became friends.

another experience that impress me much is when he helped a girl ordered food in McDonald. I know it's just ordering food but... it will seems ordinary to you but for this girl, Mr. Douglas is a hero that day.

This girl wanted to order food and she asked the waiter to give her paper and pen so she can write the order. Unfortunately, waiternya ga ngerti. Mr. Douglas kebetulan ga jauh dari situ dan memang mau order juga. Then dia ngedektin anak itu, in sign language, he asked the girl's order and delivered it to the waiter. The girl got everything she wanted to order completely.

"You want to help people, but the opportunity isnt come everytime."

you're not gonna yell among people "hey, who'se deaf here??" they cant hear you. or, "hey, is somebody falling? I wanna help?" no. no.

by having an ability of sign language, Mr. Douglas got the opportunities to help when other people cant. The more ability and knowledge you have, the more you are able to help people.

every part of his story touched me. his way of thinking, how he acts to people, his way of teaching of course, his personality is just.....A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E

The world needs people like him.

I want to be like him.

he also taught me sign language, though it is just the alphabet, numbers, and some basic conv like "thank you"and "your welcome" but I know, it would be useful one day. If you dont know the sign of the words, then you can spell it in alphabet.

He always teaches his students sign language in his class. He wishes every children learn sign language.
He is different. He made difference.

well, I think that's enough. I feel lucky I can meet this kind of person. He gave a very good first impression. I hope it last.

I dont talk about his good looking. Ganteng itu cuma bonus. If you wanna be a kind person, then be it, ga ada urusannya sama tampang.

2 am in the morning, I need to have an hour rest before sahur at 3 am. OH YA! it is Ramadhan. so I'm apologize for every mistakes I've ever made and said.

have a wonderful fasting everyone :)
